Bill Koranda

Bill Koranda, 71, of Welton, Iowa, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, at St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford, Illinois.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Schultz Funeral Home in DeWitt. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt. Burial will follow at Oakview Cemetery in Welton.

Billy Leroy Koranda was born March 2, 1953, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Richard and Bessie (Leuthold) Koranda. After graduating from Midland High School in Wyoming, Iowa, he married Susan Guzzo on December 1, 1972, at Oxford Junction, Iowa. The couple resided in Welton, where they raised their 2 children. Bill worked at Eagle Foods in Milan for 30 years, retiring in 2003. He also worked many years at Buzzy’s in Welton, until February 2024.

Bill was a longtime member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Welton. He was also a proud member of Teamster’s Local #371, the Welton Volunteer Fire Department, and the Welton City Council. Bill enjoyed being outside, lawncare, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Surviving are his wife, Susan; children, Angie Hootman of Welton, and Jeff Koranda of Welton; grandchildren, Haley, Nile, Brooke, Samuel, Jordan, and Alex; a sister, Peggy (Bob) Cotton; an uncle, Herman Bennen; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard, and mother, Bessie Woodford, siblings, Lucy, Rick, and David, and his in-laws, Sam and Audrey Guzzo.
