Will McClimon, 56, of DeWitt, Iowa, died early Tuesday morning, August 2, 2016, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
William Joseph McClimon was born April 23, 1960 in DeWitt, to Fabian and Winnie (Wallace) McClimon. He was a 1978 graduate of Central DeWitt High School. Will worked for and later managed NAPA Auto Parts stores in DeWitt, Moline and Clinton a career which spanned over 35 years. On June 3, 1989, he was united in marriage to Christine Ryan at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church, DeWitt. Will was an active member of the Grand Mound Sportsman’s Club of which he held numerous offices and was currently serving as club president. He was also a former member of the Grand Mound Fire Department. Will was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed watching his children’s sporting activities from T-Ball through college volleyball, as well as hunting, fishing and working on the family vehicles.
Surviving are his loving wife of 27 years, Chris; children, Kaitlin McClimon of Lacey, Washington, Nick McClimon and Meghan McClimon of DeWitt; siblings, Steve (Janine) McClimon and Tim (Tammy) McClimon of DeWitt, JoEllen (Craig) Mettille of Cedar Rapids, Ann (Steve) Moyna of Altoona; his mother-in-law, Charlene Ryan of DeWitt; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Deb Ryan of DeWitt, Kathy (Trace) Searls of Thornton, Colorado, Cindy Ryan of DeWitt and Lori (Ken) Ciesla of Villa Park, Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Will in death were his parents; an infant brother, Michael, a brother, Dennis and his father-in-law, Bob Ryan.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4th, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 5th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt with the Rev. Fr. Paul Connolly officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
