Mr. William M. Lambert, 94, of Grand Mound, Iowa, died early Saturday morning, July 25, 2015, at Westwing Place, DeWitt, Iowa.
 
William Matthew Lambert was born February 5, 1921, in rural Maquoketa, Iowa, to Harvey and Mildred (Roe) Lambert.  He was a graduate of  Maquoketa High School.  Bill served in the Army Air Force from 1942 until 1946 during World II.  On January 12, 1944, he was united in marriage to Lolla Faye Binns in Dubuque, Iowa, while home on furlough.  Following his honorable discharge, Bill worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad as a depot agent; a carpenter and cabinet maker for building contractors; a stores supervisor for Hawkeye Chemical; and finished his working career as an accountant and bookkeeper, retiring in 1985.
 
Bill was a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Grand Mound, Grand Mound American Legion, Crossroads Lodge #677, DeWitt and was a 32nd Degree Mason.  His lifelong hobbies included woodworking, golfing and genealogy.
 
Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Lolla Faye; daughters, Linda (Keith) Jessen of Livermore, California, and Janis Strauss of Parkville, Missouri; granddaughters, Michelle (Karl "Lee") Bellon, Sherri Jessen, Erika Strauss and Leslie (David) Lee; great-grandchildren, Kole and Jake Bellon and Addison and Lennon Lee; nieces and nephews.
 
Preceding Bill in death were his parents; a son-in-law, Richard “Rick” Strauss; sisters, Leola Streets and Rose Current and a brother, Cecil Lambert.
 
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Grand Mound, from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 29.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Pastor Denise Anderberg officiating.  Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.
 
Memorials may be directed to Jackson County Historical Society.
