Mrs. Wanda Mae Johannsen, 93, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, November 7, 2017, at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt.

She was born May 30, 1924, in DeWitt to the late Louis and Bertha (Wynkoop) Grimm.  Wanda was a 1942 graduate of DeWitt High School.  Prior to marriage, she worked at DuPont in Clinton.  On August 3, 1946, Wanda married Raymond “Boots” Johannsen at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte.  The couple farmed and raised their family at rural DeWitt.  Wanda later was employed by Iowa Mutual Insurance Company, DeWitt until retirement.  Her husband preceded her in death on February 9, 1975. 

Wanda was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt.  She volunteered with Bingo at the Davenport Lutheran Home for many years.  Wanda enjoyed dancing, word searches, playing cards and spending time with family.

Surviving are children, Sheryl (Kenneth) Brommelkamp of DeWitt, Deanna (Mark) Schwab of Galena, Illinois, and Ronald Johannsen of Andrew; grandchildren, Todd (Andrea) Brommelkamp, Darren (Christine) Smiley, Joe (Kelsey) Schwab, Wesley (Megan) Johannsen, Megan (Ryan Bradey) Johannsen and Reid (fiancée, Brittney Hellman) Johannsen; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Brandon, Cassie, Donovan, and Kennedy; six great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Grimm and Mildred Robinson.

Also preceding Wanda in death were brothers, Kenneth, Lester and William a sister, Alma Rowson.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2017.  A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt with the Rev. Ron Rafferty officiating.  Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
