Mrs. Vivian I. Fischer, 100 of DeWitt, Iowa, died early Saturday morning, September 16, 2017, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Mrs. Fischer was born Vivian Ione Snyder June 2, 1917, in Calamus to Arthur and Sarah (Dann) Snyder.  She was a 1934 graduate of Calamus High School.  On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1938, Vivian married Lyle Fischer in Davenport.  The couple moved to DeWitt in the early 1940’s where they raised their family.  In addition to being a homemaker, Vivian was employed at several area businesses.  Lyle preceded her in death January 20, 2003. 

She was a longtime member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, DeWitt.  Vivian enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and baking.  She will be remembered as an excellent cook and baker.  Even in her 90’s Vivian was teaching her granddaughters how to make her famous donuts.  She was blessed with good health and lived in her own home until she was nearly 98 years old. 

Surviving are children, Kern (Janet) Fischer of Kimberling City, Missouri, Harlan (Sandy) Fischer of Bettendorf and Debby Fischer of Delta, Colorado; grandchildren, Lara Fischer, Dina Yerex, Amy (Joe) Rogus and Jason (Brenda) Fischer; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Martin and Betty Fischer; numerous nieces and nephews.

Also preceding Vivian in death were sisters, Nadine Pewe and Yvonne Pewe and a brother, Billy Snyder.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.  A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Ann Molsberry officiating.  Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.  

Pallbearers will be Jason Fischer, Joe Rogus, Robin Pewe, Dennis Assenmacher, Roger Wilson and Luke Frobish.
