Tracy Lin Peterson Kettwick, age 47, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away in Iowa City on July 17, 2017, surrounded by her beloved family. Tracy had put up a strong and courageous fight in a battle against breast cancer and fought to the very end, but God had another plan. Tracy was a beautiful and bright light that touched and warmed everyone that she knew and loved. Her love of life was evident in everything she did whether it was making a batch of her famous Scotcharoos or surprising someone with a thoughtful gift or gesture that was so just so “Tracy”.

Tracy was an elementary teacher at Bluff Elementary in Clinton, Iowa and she loved being a teacher. She was constantly looking for ways to inspire her fellow teachers and her students to achieve and excel. Tracy had so many hobbies and interests that brought her constant joy and satisfaction. Her creativity, her thoughtfulness and unwavering generosity were the hallmark of who she was. She embraced life and lived it to the fullest. She accepted the challenges of cancer with poise, determination and strength that served as an inspiration to all.

Tracy’s greatest joy came from being a mother and wife to Karsen and Wayne, being a stepmother to Treye (Nickey) and Jasmyne (Andy) and being a part of a loving family that enjoyed many special outings that most often Tracy had played a key part in organizing. She also loved being a grandmother to the most beautiful grandchildren in the world; Kingsley, Cannon, Knox, Blaine & Devin.

Tracy loved her family deeply and enjoyed making many memories with them that will forever keep her in our hearts. She was born December 13, 1969, the daughter of Dudley (deceased) and Marlene Peterson (Dub Graversen) and the loving sister to Lori (Peter), Brenda (Joe) and Ann (Craig). She was a favorite aunt and godmother to Josh and Christopher Neville. She also loved spending time with nieces and nephews; Chris & Abby Howell, Tyler (deceased), Drew, (Mandy & Callen), Ross & Troy, Dedric & Jett Kettwick.

Tracy was baptized and confirmed at Elk Creek Lutheran Church and was married to Wayne Kettwick on June 22, 1996. She loved growing up on a farm in rural Kensett and graduated from Northwood-Kensett High School in 1988. She received her undergraduate at the University of Northern Iowa and Master’s degree from Western Illinois in education.

Her final words will forever give us strength; “I’ve got this…It is all going to be okay.”

A Gathering will be held from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Bring a memory or story to share during a Celebration of Life beginning at 6:00.
