Stirling Lawrence Eastvold
January 7, 1942 ~ January 1, 2018 (age 75) 75 Years OldStirling L. Eastvold, 75, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, following a prolonged battle with lung disease.
Stirling was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada on January 7, 1942, to American parents, Stirling and Frances (Scott) Eastvold. He came to the United States with his family in 1956. Following graduation from Calamus High School in 1960 he joined the Iowa National Guard. He married Caryle Schoff on January 19, 1963, in Lowden, Iowa. Stirling worked on the family farm, and assisted his dad with the family fertilizer business. He later became an over-the-road truck driver for Amhof Trucking, Eldridge until retirement. He was a private pilot and enjoyed volunteering for the Quad City Air Show. Stirling was a member of Christian Free Lutheran Church in Wheatland.
Surviving are his wife, Caryle; children, Kenneth (Robbie) Eastvold of Smyrna, Tennessee, and LuAnn (Jeffrey) Florin of Franklin, Indiana; grandchildren, Halley and Caleb Andrews, and Jonah Florin; a sister Kary (Roger) Blunk of Chariton, Iowa, brothers-in-law, Dick Bequeaith of Chariton and Dennis (Sharon) Schoff of Tucson, Arizona; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Loretta Bequeaith.
The family will greet friends and relatives from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018, at Christian Free Lutheran Church in Wheatland. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018, in the church.
