Signe Theodora Rock, 93, of Wheatland, formerly of Grand Mound, Iowa, died Friday, July 10, 2015, at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt.

 

Signe Theodora Rock was born October 27, 1921, in Calamus, Iowa, to John and Gurine (Stueland) Fagerland.  After graduating from Grand Mound High School she was united in marriage to Eldon Winston Rock on January 1, 1942, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, rural Calamus.  The couple resided in the Grand Mound area, where Signe was a homemaker and raised four children.  Eldon preceded her in death on June 18, 1977.

 

Signe was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus.  She worked with the BINGO Association of Grand Mound, and the Senior Citizen Card Party.  Signe volunteered at various organizations including the Clinton Co. Extension Service. She loved watching sports and was an avid Cubs, Hawkeye, and Cyclone fan. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and playing cards.

 

She is survived by sons, Winston (Donna) Rock of Low Moor, Roger (Thea) Rock of Lakewood, Colorado; son-in-law, Elmer Mess; daughter-in-law, Theresa Rock; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her husband, Eldon, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sonja Mess; son Charles Rock; great-granddaughter Madelynn; sister-in-law, Ruth Fagerland; and brothers Stan, Bob, and John Fagerland.

 

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2015, at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, Iowa.  A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus, Iowa.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound.
