Sally Louise (Barten) Atwater

Sally Louise Atwater, 45, of Charlotte, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, November 4, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.

She was born September 14, 1970, in DeWitt, Iowa, to Roy and Ruth (Rickertsen) Barten.  She was a graduate of Northeast High School, Goose Lake, Iowa.  On September 18, 1993, Sally was united in marriage to James Atwater at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed working at places where she could help others.  Sally was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.  She loved being a grandmother, riding her golf cart and camping.  Sally will be remembered for her fabulous cooking.

Surviving are her husband, James; a daughter and her fiance, Jessica (Jeff) of Clinton, Iowa; a grandson, Parker; father, Roy (Vi) Barten of Park Rapids, Minnesota; a sister, Sheila Witt of Park Rapids; brothers, Lon of Des Moines, Iowa, Lynn (Mugs) of Park Rapids, Shawn of Charlotte and Lee of Menahga, Minnesota; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bernie and Mick Seifert of Clinton; a sister-in-law, Sheila (Justin) Voss of DeWitt; nieces and nephews and her beloved furry companion, Baby Girl.

Preceding Sally in death was her mother, Ruth and grandparents, Marie and Harold Rickertsen and Robert and Caroline Barten.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 6.  A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 7 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte, with the Rev. Anthony Dodgers officiating.  Burial will follow at Rossiter Cemetery, Charlotte.

Pallbearers will be Joel Brown, Marty Fier, Dale Rathje, Steve Reistroffer, Lynn Barten and Shawn Barten.
