Robert D. Lomsdalen, 70, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at home.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2015, at Emmaus Road Church. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 1, in the church. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenny Carter, Lovell Jaques, Gus Vanderbilt, Paul Ketelsen, LeRoy Wulf, and Marlon Kinrade. Richard Walker will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Bob was born January 3, 1945, to Clarence and Alice (Buth) Lomsdalen in Moorhead, Minnesota. After graduating from Barnesville High School he served in the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard from 1963 to 1969. Bob worked at Caterpillar, Kunau Implement, True Value and Scott Drug. He married Sherryl Hankemeier on June 26, 1966, in Preston, Iowa. Sherryl preceded him in death in 2001. On December 2, 2006, Bob married Elaina Wood at Emmaus Road Church, DeWitt.

Bob was a member and custodian at Emmaus Road Church in DeWitt and was the board president of the West Clinton County Chapter of Thrivent Financial. He had a servant’s heart, helping any time he saw a need, at church, at work, with friends, and in the community. Bob and Elaina enjoyed traveling to see their children and grandchildren and all the sights in between.

Bob is survived by his wife, Elaina Lomsdalen; his 3 children, Doug (Tatjana) of Nipomo, California, Sarah (Kenny) Carter of Enterprise, Alabama, and Darin (Megan) of Eugene, Oregon, and a step-daughter Becky Kitchen of DeWitt; grandchildren, Marcus and Jason Lomsdalen, Abby and Mia Carter, Keegan Natali, Gabe Beyer, and Kai Lomsdalen; step-grandchildren, Dallas Skeel, Helen Kitchen, Hailey Kitchen, and Laura Busch; four great grandchildren; siblings, Darlene (Marvin) Czichotzki of Fargo, North Dakota, Jim (Linda) Lomsdalen of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and Shirley Berndt of Breckenridge, Minnesota.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Emmaus Road Church or the DeWitt Area Veteran's Memorial.
