Milton "Bud" Kohnert, 91 of Calamus, Iowa, died Monday morning, February 6, 2017, at Maggie's House Assisted Living, DeWitt.

Milton LeRoy Kohnert was born May 9, 1925, at rural Calamus to George and Mamie (Grau) Kohnert.  On September 17, 1949 he was united in marriage to Mary Rose Hofsheier at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Davenport.  The couple farmed and raised their sons at rural Calamus. In retirement they moved off the farm to Calamus.

He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound.  Bud enjoyed the morning coffee group at Steffens in Calamus, time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and fishing and hunting in his younger years.  Above all, he enjoyed being a farmer and all that farming entails.

Surviving  are sons and a daughter-in-law, Raymond of State Center, Richard and Laura of Urbandale and Robert of Grand Mound; grandchildren, Scott (Allyssa) Kohnert, Katie (Fiancee, Jason O'Donnell), Krista (Chris) Blackburn and Kendra (Justin) Long; great-grandchildren, Reese and Camryn Kohnert, Jenna and Andy Blackburn and Gage, Hunter, Beau and Gunner; a sisters-in-law, Shirley Kohnert of Calamus and Marianne Hofsheier of Raleigh, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Bud was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lloyd Kohnert and a sister, Helen Hoffmeier.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017.  A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lucas Casey, Scott Kohnert, Chris Blackburn, Justin Long, Don Greiner and Sam Lee.
