Mrs. Marvel A. Schroeder, 86, of DeWitt, Iowa, formerly of rural Goose Lake, died Sunday afternoon, June 19, 2016, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Mrs. Schroeder, the former Marvel Anna Ladehoff was born February 21, 1930, in Clinton to John and Emma (Kruse) Ladehoff.  She graduated from Goose Lake High School in 1947.  Marvel married Donald H. Schroeder April 10, 1949, at St. John Lutheran Church, Preston.  The couple farmed and raised their family at rural Goose Lake until retirement in 1984.  Her husband, Don, preceded her in death on March 23, 1989.  Marvel moved to DeWitt in September of 1990.

Marvel was a longtime active member of Elvira Zion Lutheran Church where she was active in the Dorcas Circle, annual fall supper, church cleaning and sunday school.  She was a poll worker for elections in Clinton County for many years.  Marvel enjoyed playing cards, especially 500, sewing, cooking and visiting with her beloved family and friends.

Surviving are children and their spouses, Phyllis and Bob Peters of DeWitt and Allen and Connie Schroeder of Goose Lake; grandchildren, Lisa (Matthew) Stueber, Jeff (Jodee) Peters, Donnie (Erin) Schroeder and Emily (Kyle) Jackson; great-grandchildren, Noah and Leah Stueber and Hannah, Hailee and Jack Peters.

In addition to her husband, Marvel was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joan O'Connor; a brother, John Ladehoff, Jr. and a brother-in-law, LaVern Schroeder.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 21st.  A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 22nd at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jealaine Marple officiating.  Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to Elvira Zion Lutheran Church.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren and spouses.
