Mardelle (Mueller) Baur

Mrs. Mardelle Baur, 86, of Bloomington, Illinois, formerly of Calamus and Forest City, Iowa, died Saturday afternoon, October 7, 2017, at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community in Chenoa, Illinois.

Mardelle Darlene Mueller was born January 7, 1931, in Clinton, Iowa, to the late Ellis and Margaret (Christensen) Mueller.  She was a graduate of Calamus High School and St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.   On July 1, 1956, Mardelle was united in marriage to the Rev. Richard Baur at Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus.  Mardelle taught Music and English at Calamus and later taught Sophomore English at Forest City.  She was also very active in the music programs at the various churches that her husband served.  Her husband preceded her in death on September 30, 2002.

She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Forest City and more recently a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bloomington.  Mardelle loved music, quilting, traveling, especially to Hawaii and Colorado, spending time with her sisters, children and grandchildren.   

Surviving are children, SueAnn (Lee) Goeken of Kaysville, Utah, Aleta (Russ) Mikels of Bloomfield, Iowa and John (Melinda) Baur of Bloomington; grandchildren, Natalee Goeken, Gage Mikels, Blaise (Becky) Mikels, Park Mikels, Claire Baur and Benjamin (Chloe) Baur; a great-grandson, Isaac Mikels; a sister, Alois Erickson of Nora Springs, Iowa; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Meryne Henning and brothers-in-law, Dean Erickson and Doug Henning.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017.  A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus with the Rev. William Runaas, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Kvindherred Cemetery, rural Calamus.  Memorials may be designated to Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community  24588 Church St.  Cheonoa, IL  61726.  

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
