Lois L. Dalton, 93, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.
Mrs. Dalton, the former Lois Lucille Stahl, was born February 5, 1924, in West Liberty, Iowa, to John and Clara (Lausen) Stahl. After graduating high school, she married William L. Dalton on June 26, 1942, in Grand Mound. The couple farmed north of DeWitt. After Bill’s retirement, Lois went to work as head clerk at the DeWitt Office Center for 21 years.
Lois was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, Ci-Ed Club, lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and served 25 years on the local election boards. She loved bingo, reading, cards, the Cubs, Las Vegas, and spending time with family. Lois never knew a stranger, making friends wherever she went.
She is survived by her children, Dale (Bobbie) Dalton of Clinton, Carol Schuster of DeWitt, and a daughter-in-law, Mary Jean Nantz of DeWitt; grandchildren, Marcia (Ron) Herrig, David Dalton, Gregory Dalton, Jeff (Christina) Nantz, Jon (Sherri) Proud, Kelly (George) Garza, Joseph Proud, Kristy Dalton, Brian (Brandy) Dalton, Shelly (Brian) Borota, Denise Olsen, Will Schuster; 32 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren; a step-sister, Mae Howes; nieces and nephews.
Preceding Lois in death were her husband, Bill, son, Larry, son-in-law, Robert Schuster, grandson, Patrick Proud, great-granddaughter, Stacy Smith, brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Mary Jane Stahl, and a special niece, Mary Anne Damon.
Visitation will be from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, with a Vigil Service at 8:30, and Funeral Mass following at 11:00 a.m. in the Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
