LaVonne I. (Mrs. Ronald) Jurgersen, 81, of Clinton, Iowa, died Sunday afternoon, March 12, 2017, at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt.

A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, with the Rev. Ron Rafferty and the Rev. Dan Pool officiating.  Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2017, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.  Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Camp and Camp Courageous.

Pallbearers will be Joel Clement, Terry Doescher, Mike Jurgersen, Doug Jurgersen, Jay Perez and Tom Stock.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jon Clement and Steve Jurgersen.

Mrs. Jurgersen, the former LaVonne Ione Doescher was born November 21, 1935, in Goose Lake to Henry and Alta (Knutsen) Doescher.  She graduated from DeWitt High School.  She met Ronald Edward Jurgersen on a blind date and they were married May 15, 1955, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. The couple resided at Low Moor where LaVonne was a homemaker, raising their family.  She was a cook at the Low Moor School and DeWitt High School for many years. 

LaVonne was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt.  Family meant the world to her.  LaVonne adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was one of their greatest fans.  LaVonne also enjoyed taking pictures, gardening, crocheting and collecting Isabel Blooms.

Survivors include her loving husband of nearly 62 years, Ron; children, Sheryl Jindrich of Camanche, Brent Jurgersen of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Kent Jurgersen of Blue Grass; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren with another arriving in September; a sister, Janet (Russell) Steen of Clinton; a brother, Leon (Judy) Doescher of Camanche; a son-in-law, Rev. Ernest Elzey; a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Louie (Roberta) and Marilyn Jurgersen of Clinton; nieces and nephews.

LaVonne was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Kane Elzey; her parents; a son-in-law, Kevin Kane and brothers-in-law, David Steen and Reynold Jurgersen.
