Kent A. Rickertsen, 50, of Charlotte, Iowa, died Monday morning, July 25, 2016.

Kent Alan Rickertsen was born January 22, 1966, in Clinton to DaVarro and Brenda (Grant) Rickertsen.  He was a 1984 graduate of Northeast High School, Goose Lake.  Kent served in the Army as a military police officer.  He was employed by Scale Models (Ertl Toys) in Dyersville for 12 years and most recently for Charlotte Plumbing.

He was a baptized and confirmed member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte.  He loved volunteering at the Clinton Engine Museum in Maquoketa.  Kent also enjoyed NASCAR, especially Tony Stewart and Rusty Wallace.  In the last few years, Kent took great interest in supporting Matt and Luke Short in their stock car racing pursuits.  He had a heart of gold and loved to reach out to friends and family in anything they needed help with.  Like so many, Kent fought serious addictions for the past 25 years, and was still unconditionally loved by his family.

Surviving are his mother, Brenda of Charlotte; brothers, NaVon (Maureen) of Tacoma, Washington, Nathan (Sherrie) of Monona and Neil (Angela) Rickertsen of Charlotte; nieces and nephews, Briana, Noah, Eyon, Megan, Haleigh, Grant and Ellie; a special friend, Audrey Short and his beloved dog, Alice; other relatives and friends.

Preceding Kent in death were his father and grandparents.

The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. Friday, July 29th. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Anthony Dodgers officiating.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Clinton Engines Museum.

Pallbearers will be Luke and Matt Short, Michael Chambers and Cody Meyer.

Condolences may be expressed and a photo tribute viewed at www.schultzfuneralhomes.com.
