Kenneth W. Steinke
March 31, 1933 ~ July 8, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years OldKenneth William Steinke, 84, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Kahl Home in Davenport.
Ken was born March 31, 1933, to William and Ella (Lange) Steinke in Lowden, Iowa. He served in U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Ken married Marcella Bauer on August 9, 1952, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Welton. He retired from McCarthy Improvement Company after 33 years and then worked 17 years at Theisen’s in DeWitt.
He enjoyed his family, grilling out, watching old western movies (especially John Wayne), dining at good steak restaurants, and the challenge of fixing things.
Ken is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Marcella; children, Gary (Terri) Steinke of Urbandale, and Lori Ann Day of Davenport; grandchildren, Adam and Tyler Steinke and Dustin and Shelby Day; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Leroy, and sister Lois (Wilbert) Schroeder.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2017, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. Burial and Military Rites will follow in the church cemetery.
