Mr. Joseph A. Soletski, 91, of DeWitt, died early Friday morning, November 20, 2015, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Joseph Anthony Soletski was born October 8, 1924, in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania, to Anthony and Jennie (Bloshinski) Soletski. He served in the United States Navy Seabees during World War II serving in the Philippines and Aleutian Islands of Alaska. Joe married Betty Brake October 26, 1948, in Kansas City, Missouri. He worked as a supply officer with the United States Department of Defense. Joe and his wife, Betty moved to DeWitt in 1962 and she preceded him in death November 7, 1997.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and was raised a Master Mason in Toledo, Ohio, and became a 32nd Degree Mason while residing for five years in Okinawa, Japan. Joe enjoyed sewing, woodworking, Lawrence Welk and the Polka Queen, Barefoot Becky.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, David and Delcine Soletski of Woodinville, Washington; grandchildren, Brandon Soletski of Bothell, Washington, and Carleen Cantu of Seattle, Washington; a great-granddaughter, Corina Cantu of Sultan, Washington.
Preceding Joe in death in addition to his wife were a sister, Viola and brothers, Alexander and Edward.
Private services will be held with interment at Rock Island National Cemetery.
