Jean Doescher
August 10, 1928 ~ December 10, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years OldJean Doescher, 89, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Sunday evening, December 10, 2017, at Maggie's House Assisted Living in DeWitt.
Dorothy Jean Doescher was born August 10, 1928, to Vern and Willa (Morgan) Howson, in Clinton, Iowa. She graduated from DeWitt High School in 1945. Jean married Marvin Doescher on December 8, 1946, at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt. After owning and operating Tri-County Produce with Marvin, she worked as a baker for Barnes Foodland until retiring. Marvin preceded her in death on June 10, 1983.
Jean was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Ci-Ed Club, DeWitt bowling league, and Central Community Historical Society. She enjoyed crocheting baby hats for the area hospitals, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Sandra Lass of DeWitt, Gary Doescher of Eldridge, and David (Ellen) Doescher of Algonquin, Illinois; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Janice (Thomas) Wiebenga; a sister-in-law, Joan Lass; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, William (Venita) Howson, Dwayne (Helen) Howson, and Helen Mae (Lyle) Hofer; and an infant son, Marvin Jr.
Visitation will be from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
