Helen D. Barber

Mrs. Helen D. Barber, 91, DeWitt, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, December 17, 2002 at DeWitt Community Hospital.

Mrs. Barber the former Helen Kallenbach was born December 6, 1911 in Grand Mound, Iowa, to Frank Kallenbach and Dorothy Ehlers Kallenbach. On February 28, 1935 she married Elmer J. Barber in Davenport, Iowa. The couple farmed in the DeWitt area. Elmer preceded Helen in death on December 23, 1990.

Helen enjoyed her grandchildren and family, playing bingo, cross stitching, sewing, and cooking.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Barber, Anchorage, Alaska, and Beverly Barber, DeWitt; two sons, Lee Barber and his wife, Luanne, and Robert Barber and his wife, Barb, all of DeWitt; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Jessica Hanrahan and Babe Barber, DeWitt; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Barber, DeWitt.

Preceding Helen in death besides her husband, were her parents and a son Donald.

Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 3 until 7 PM Thursday, December 19, 2002. Service of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Friday, December 20, 2002 at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. The Rev. Fr. H. Robert Harness officiating. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Rick Fischer, Dave Fischer, Mark Hughes, Dick Kelly, Alfred Casad, and Jerry Busch.
