Harvey Allen Witt
April 22, 1931 ~ July 14, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years OldMr. Harvey A. Witt, 86, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Friday evening, July 14, 2017, at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt.
Harvey Allen Witt was born April 22, 1931, in Trego, Wisconsin, to the late Herman and Mary (Roessl) Witt. The family moved to Iowa when Harvey was a young boy. He served in the United States Army from 1955 until 1957. Harvey married Donna Boardwell in 1974 at Elks Point, South Dakota. Harvey spent many years working at Tri City Fabrication in Davenport.
He enjoyed tractors, stock car races, attending fairs and auctions and pitching horse shoes. Harvey was a devoted grandfather and loved all children.
Surviving are children, Kevin (Penny) Horton of DeWitt and Maureen Nichols of Davenport; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Walter of DeWitt and Ethel of Moline, Illinois; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Monte and several brothers and sisters.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Zevenbergen officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery.
