Gloria Jean Fuller

Gloria Jean Fuller, 68, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 29, 2016, at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Mrs. Fuller, the former Gloria Jean Speer, was born June 22, 1948, in Fairfield, Iowa, to Clayton Andrew and Jean Anne (Rauscher) Speer. She graduated in 1966 from Bettendorf High School. She worked for several years as a phlebotomist. She married Phil Fuller, Jr., on July 16, 1977, in Las Vegas. The couple lived in California where they cared for special needs foster children. Upon returning to Iowa in 1986 her passion was family photography.

Gloria, or “Nonnie” as she was known as by every child she knew, enjoyed reading, going to her happy place with her camping buddies, crossword puzzles, Jeopardy, and playing games on Facebook. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her loving husband, Phil; a daughter, Liz (Richard) Lomas of Bettendorf, step-daughters, Deena (John) Hayes and Dawn (Alex) Montoy both of Texas; grandchildren Larissa, Megan, Justin, Lexi, Summer, Hayley, Ryan, Kayla; a sister Mary Anne (Jim) Murray of LeClaire; and a special nephew, Jimmy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Andy, and her beloved niece, Johannah.

The family will greet relatives and friends during a memorial gathering from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2016, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Interment will take place at the Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date.
