Evelyn Marie Kirstein

Evelyn M. (Mrs. William) Kirstein, 86, formerly of Grand Mound, Iowa, died Monday morning, August 3, 2015, at her home in Norwalk, Iowa.

She was born November 5, 1928 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  She was a 1947 graduate of Lowden High School.  Evelyn married Bill Kirstein December 5, 1948.  Evelyn was a cook at Mac’s Triangle for many years.  She then was an at home child care provider.

Evelyn was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound.  Evelyn was well known for her delicious homemade potato salad.

Surviving are her husband, Bill; children, Barb (Ron) Ekstrom of Palmyra, Iowa, Bill of Moorhead, Minnesota, Gina (John) Rockrohr of Tualatin, Oregon, and Lisa Gray of Norwalk; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She will also be sorely missed by her grand-dog, Hattie.

Visitation will be at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 10:00 until 11:45 a.m. Friday, August 7.  A service will be held at 12 noon Friday at the funeral home with The Rev. Steven Anderson officiating.  Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Lowden. Pallbearers will be Brian Kirstein, Mike Machula, Brian Lindaman, Ben Lindaman, Scott Brown and Tim Gluesing.

Memorials may be designated to Camp Courageous or Unity Point Hospice in Des Moines.
