Mrs. Esther M. Stuedemann, 94, of DeWitt, Iowa, died early Saturday morning, November 11, 2017, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Esther Mae Stuedemann was born May 7, 1923, in Pekin, Illinois, to the late George and Bertha (Long) Schember.  She was a graduate of Clinton High School.  Esther married Elmer Stuedemann July 2, 1944, in Clinton.  The couple farmed and raised their family in the DeWitt area for 50 years, retiring in 1989.  Esther also worked as a secretary at the Central Junior High School, DeWitt.  Her husband preceded her in death October 24, 1998.

She was a member of Emmaus Road Church, DeWitt.  Esther was a former 4-H leader, a member of the Gideon Auxiliary and volunteer at Westwing Place.  She loved her family dearly and the time she would spend with her grandkids. 

Surviving are children, Darrell (Barbara) Stuedemann of Omaha, Nebraska, Lowell (Juli) Stuedemann of Eldridge, twins Wayne (Nancy) Stuedemann of DeWitt and Glenn (Terry) Stuedemann of Wykoff, Minnesota, twins Sharon Knudson of DeWitt and Karen Stuedemann of Sycamore, Illinois; foster children, Toni Buckley of Davenport, David (Shelly) Cogswell of Murphy, Texas, and Amy Long of DeWitt; 35 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Youngblut; a son-in-law, David Knudson; grandchildren, Mark Stuedemann, Jacob Youngblut and Crystal Anderson and siblings, Rev. Luther Schember, Ruth Paysen, Helen Voss, Paul Schember, Martin Schember as well as two infant brothers.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Emmaus Road Church, DeWitt from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017.  A service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017, in the church with Pastor Paul Lang officiating.  Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tim Stuedemann, Cass Stuedemann, Dan Stuedemann, Eric Stuedemann, Loren Knudson, Nolan Knudson, Dylan Schmidt, Austin Schmidt and Brennen Knudson.
