Ed Fowler, 65, of Grand Mound and DeWitt, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City.

Clarence Edward Fowler was born August 27, 1950, in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of Merle Edward and Sarah Frances (Williams) Fowler.  He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Army. Ed earned his Ranking in the service on April 30, 1971 and passed on the 41st anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War (April 30 1975).  He was married in 1982 to Vicki D Erwin and together they had two sons.

Ed enjoyed classic rock music and playing the guitar. For a period of about three months Ed was learning and playing guitar with Gregg Allman from the Allman Brothers Band in Lithonia with neighbors.  In his early years he was active in Karate with his sons. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his friends from Atlanta when he was younger.   Ed enjoyed reading, and writing, studying Civil War History and visiting reenactments, WWII, Old West, and Native Americans History. He worked as a Glass Millworker in Conyers, Georgia and retired. Ed was a member at Redan First Baptist Church in Redan, Georgia.  He raised Jason and Sean on Christian values in Conyers. He was a homebody and enjoyed family and close friends. Ed moved to Iowa years ago to be close to his grandchildren.

Survivors include his sons,  Jason Fowler of Georgia and Sean Fowler of Grand Mound; their mother; three very special grandchildren, Tanner, Tinsley and Tristen Fowler; brothers, William D. Wallace and David L. Fowler both of Atlanta.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lee Fowler.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July, 23, 2016, at Rock Springs Primitive Baptist Cemetery 6301 Rock Springs Road Lithonia, Georgia.
