Douglas Gene Rittmer

Douglas G. Rittmer, 59, of Grand Mound, Iowa, died Monday, August 28, 2017, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Doug was born July 18, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Orville Rittmer and June (Plambeck) Rittmer. He was a 1976 graduate of Central Community Schools in DeWitt. Doug received a drafting degree from Clinton Community College. He was a self-taught computer programmer and remained in that field for most of his career, working in many parts of the country and overseas.

Doug enjoyed working with computers, building model battleships, and spending time with family.

He is survived by his father, Orville Rittmer (Aiden Huettman) of DeWitt, and mother, June Rittmer of Grand Mound; sisters, Barbara (Mark) Henningsen of Grand Mound, and Carol (Steven) McDonnell of DeWitt; nieces and nephews, Bridget (Bryan) Maher and their son Brody, Erin (Julian Stahl) McDonnell, Thomas McDonnell, and Adam Henningsen.

Doug was preceded in death by a sister Jean Rittmer.

A private service will be held. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
