Mr. Darrell H. Evers, 85, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, April 4, 2017, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Darrell Henry Evers was born September 25, 1931, in Maquoketa to Fred and Anna (Rehmke) Evers.  He served in the United States Army in Korea.  On July 5, 1958, he was United in marriage to Glenda Davisson at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, rural Calamus.  Darrell was employed at the Clarence Cooperative and later worked as a custodian at Clarence Community Schools. In 1971 he began working for Central Community Schools as a custodian and later transferred to the maintenance department retiring following over 23 years of service.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt.  Darrell loved camping, fishing, going out to eat and being around family.   In his later years, he enjoyed the activities while residing at Westwing Place.  Darrell will be remembered for his sweet smile.

Surviving are his wife, Glenda; children, Jody Evers and his wife, Debbie of Thornton, Colorado, and Julie Evers of DeWitt; a grandson, Christopher Evers; a brother, Marvin Evers of Cedar Rapids; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Ann Fehling and a brother, Frederick Evers.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017.  A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt with the Rev. Ron Rafferty officiating.  Burial will follow at Kvindherred Cemetery, rural Calamus.
