Dale Thomas McConohy

Dale Thomas McConohy, 80, of DeWitt, died peacefully at home on Monday, February 6, 2017.

Dale was born October 27, 1936, in Clinton, Iowa, to Thomas Walter and Dorothy Bernice (Quackenbush) McConohy. He grew up in rural DeWitt and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1955. Dale served 2 years in the US Navy and attended Blackhawk college. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Schwarz on April 8, 1961, at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport. The couple began farming north of DeWitt in 1966. Dale also worked at Case-IH for over 30 years until retiring in 1992.

Dale was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his produce. He loved every moment he spent with his family and enjoyed traveling the United States to visit them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Pat; children, Anne Stiles of Lakeville, Minnesota, Jayne (Mark) Trimble of Geneva, Illinois, Laura Jansen of Bettendorf, Michael (Joanne) McConohy of DeWitt, and Patrick (Amy) McConohy of Davenport; grandchildren, Katie (Matt) Wolden, Jennifer Stiles, Matthew Stiles, Louis (Lindsay) Trimble, Daniel and Michael Trimble, David (Hannah) Jansen, Elizabeth Jansen, Thomas, Jenna, John and Liam McConohy, Maycee and Maxwell McConohy; siblings LaVonne (Louis) Falconieri, Joan Magee, Dan (Mercedes), Joseph (Connie); nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Penny McConohy, and brother-in-law, William Magee.

Visitation will be from 3:30 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, with a Vigil service at 7:00. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, in the church. Burial will be at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Villa Nova.
