Barbara Lee “Bobbie” Hostvedt, 85, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Barbara Lee Hostvedt was born December 21, 1931, in Menominee, Michigan, the daughter of Arnold and Mabel (Michaelis) Hostvedt. After graduating from high school, Bobbie received training as a nanny at Cradle in Evanston, Illinois, and worked all over the country. She later received her education in nursing in California and worked as a Registered Nurse in the neonatal unit until retirement. She volunteered for the Red Cross and was at Ground Zero twice after 9/11, feeding the emergency responders.

Bobbie was a faithful member of Emmaus Road Church, DeWitt. She loved reading the Bible daily. She enjoyed collecting Precious Moments, working on genealogy, crocheting, knitting, swimming, and holding babies.

She is survived by nieces, Debbie (Paul) Vandemore of Geneseo, Illinois, Sheri (Kurt) Meier of DeWitt, Dawn Mallum of Geneseo; nephews Jeff Oliver and Nathan (Becky) Oliver both of Grand Rapids, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Patricia Hostvedt of Geneseo; many great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Carol Phillips, a brother, Arnold, Jr., and a brother-in-law, James Oliver.

Visitation will be from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Emmaus Road Church, DeWitt. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Menominee.

Memorial donations are suggested to the American Red Cross and Emmaus Road Church.
