Bette Ann worked as a professional hairstylist, aerobics instructor and librarian for the Calamus Public Library.

Bette Ann was known by most as a person who remembered others. When they were sick, she sent them a card. When they needed encouragement, she called them. When they were lonely or in prison, she wrote them a letter. Her desk had its own filing system to organize her cards and stationary so she could reach out to people for any occasion or situation. She gave of her time and shared encouragement and Scripture freely. Bette Ann also led bible studies for over 40 years.

She is survived by her husband Bernard; daughter Brittney (Andrew) Switala of Louisburg, NC; two grandchildren, Lindsey and Micah; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Donna Mulbrook, Harold Engle, Gorman Engle and Mary Lou Lincoln.
