Mrs. Barbara J. Scott, 86, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Monday evening, June 13, 2016, at Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt.

Mrs. Scott, the former Barbara Jean Harrington was born November 1, 1929, in Rock Falls, Illinois, to Glen and Estelle (Sanders) Harrington.  She graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1947.  Barb worked as a Surgical Nurse at the former DeWitt Community Hospital for over 40 years.  She also was an EMT with the DeWitt Ambulance Service for many years.  

Barb was a devout member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, DeWitt.  She loved to fish, camp and travel and has been to most of the continents.  Spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family was very important to Barb.

Surviving are children, Joe (Linda) Bouma of Nokomis, Florida, Kathy (Robert) Skeffington of Davenport, Jane (Kent) Vogt of Fulton, Illinois, and Jim Carnahan of Davenport; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Preceding Barbara in death were her husband, Robert Scott; daughters, Peggy Loeffers and Mary Namer; a granddaughter, Joan Loeffers; a great-grandson, Kristian Loeffers; a great-great-grandson, Brayden Murray; her parents; brothers, Don and Richard and sisters, Pat and Bernice.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 17th.  A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 18th in the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Wartgow officiating.  Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.  Memorials may be designated to First Congregational UCC or the DeWitt Community Hospital Foundation. 

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tim Bouma, Scott Bouma, Kelly Skeffington, Wes Skeffington, Matt Skeffington and Jessen Namer.
