Austin C. Lee, 28, of DeWitt, died Tuesday evening, September 8, 2015.
Austin Creg Lee was born October 17, 1986, in Maquoketa to Sam and Joanne (Beuthien) Lee. He was a 2005 graduate of Central Community School, DeWitt. Austin graduated from Hawkeye Technical College in Waterloo, Iowa, with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. He went on to study Psychology at Ashford University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and furthered his education there, earning a Master's Degree in Organizational Management.
He was employed at the Orchard Place in Des Moines, where he enjoyed helping troubled youth. Austin then returned to DeWitt and was currently working at the Center For Behavioral Health in Davenport as a Counselor.
He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, DeWitt. Austin loved golfing and watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and Boston Red Sox. He was a very compassionate listener and enjoyed helping others. His final act of love was that of organ and tissue donation. Austin loved spending time with friends and family and will be deeply missed.
Surviving are his parents, Sam and Joanne Lee of DeWitt; siblings, Jennifer (Tom) Banowetz of DeWitt and Jason Lee of Corpus Christi, Texas; nieces and nephews, Seth Eickert, Spencer Lee, Alivia Lee, Addison Lee, Taylar Banowetz and Tori Banowetz; grandparents, Harold Beuthien of Davenport, Mary Jane and Wayne Spriggs of Greenfield, Iowa and Helga Weiss of Ungarn, Hungaria; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding Austin in death were grandparents, William and Betty Lee and uncles, Norman Beuthien and Duane Lee.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 11th. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 12th at First Congregational United Church of Christ, DeWitt, with Pastor Jeff Wartgow officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial fund has been established.
Pallbearers will be Robert, David and Donald Beuthien, William “Jim”, John, Mark and Charles Lee, Casey Ritz and Adam Zuck. Honorary Pallbearers will be Seth Eickert and Spencer Lee.
