Arlene Beverely (Dohse) Petersen

Arlene B. Petersen, 77, of Margate, Florida, formerly of Calamus, Iowa, died late Saturday evening, June 18, 2016, at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida.

Arlene Beverly Dohse was born July 7, 1938, in Clinton to Marvin and Mildred (Farber) Dohse.  She married James “Bud”  Petersen, June 9, 1963, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt.  The couple resided at Calamus where they raised their family.  Arlene was employed by the I-80 Truck Stop for 16 years, retiring from the accounting department in 2003.  Her husband preceded her in death October 13, 2002.  Arlene moved to Margate in 2005.

She enjoyed going to the casino and watching the grandkids ballgames, playing cards, watching NASCAR races as well as football and basketball games.  Arlene liked Hawkeye sports of all types. 

Surviving are daughters, Michele (Drake) Mayerhofer of Margate, Florida, and Julie (Steve) Dircks of Coral Springs, Florida; grandchildren, Carson and Kenzie Dircks, Karissa (Alex) Hudson and Miranda Mayerhofer; great grandchildren, Maddox and Kaliyah; a sister, Marlene Wilson of Davenport and a brother, Ken (Alice) Dohse of Long Beach, California.

 Preceding Arlene in death in addition to her husband were her parents, a sister, Phyllis Hamann and a brother-in-law, Mel Wilson.

 The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 26th.  A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 27th in the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus.
