Alice Marie (Schulz) Benthin

Alice Marie (Mrs. Richard) Benthin, 78, of Long Grove, Iowa, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017, at Generations, in Rock Island, Illinois.

Mrs. Benthin was born Alice Marie Schulz to George and Freda (Wieger) Schulz on September 4, 1939, in Waubay, South Dakota. She graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing in 1961. Alice married Richard J. Benthin on May 25, 1963, in Waubay, South Dakota. She worked as an R.N. for over 40 years, retiring from Moline Public Hospital. Richard preceded her in death April 10, 2013.

Alice was a member of Parkview Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and visiting.

Surviving are children, Brian (Cathie) Benthin of Clinton, Iowa, Roxanne Benthin and Quentin "Bubba" (Kim) Benthin both of Long Grove; grandchildren, Conner Kelly, and Morgan Benthin, and Haylee and Payton Benthin; a great-grandson, Richard Benthin; siblings, Jane (Duane) Kaasa, Elaine Christensen, Lloyd Schulz, Lilia (Ben) Oswskey, and a sister-in-law, Marjean Frank; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Lyle, sister-in-law, Jane Schulz, and daughter, Dawn Kelly.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2017, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Parkview Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
