Tulane Irene Curtis


Tulane (Mrs. Ray) Curtis, 80, of DeWitt, Iowa, died early Friday morning, February 1, 2013 at Senior Star Assisted Living, Davenport, Iowa.

Mrs. Curtis, the former Tulane Irene German was born April 6, 1932 in Northville, Michigan, to Harry and Bernice (Niriver) German. She graduated from Northville High School. On September 19, 1953, Tulane was united in marriage to Ray Curtis in Northville. The couple farmed and raised Belgian and race horses at their farm at rural DeWitt. Ray preceded Tulane in death on October 27, 2006.

Tulane was a great lover of all animals, especially horses. She also was a very talented artist.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Julie Curtis of Eldridge, Iowa, and Larry and Rebecca Curtis of DeWitt; grandchildren, Courtney (Nate) Miller, Austin Curtis, Joshua Curtis, Drew Curtis, Saeger Olsen and Ross Curtis; great-grandchildren, Avalon, Brody, Aidan and Jackson; a brother, Harry (Mary) German of Michigan; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:30 until 6:45 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the Funeral Home with the Reverend Father H. Robert Harness officiating. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
