Don Eugene Oehrlein


Don E. Oehrlein, 74, of Davenport, Iowa, died early Tuesday morning, July 17, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport.

Don Eugene Oehrlein was born to Harry and Carrie (Ehlers) Oehrlein on November 23, 1937 in DeWitt, Iowa. He worked as a handyman all of his life. Don had a great entrepreneurial spirit. He enjoyed fishing, photography and racing.

Surviving are his companion, Mary LaMar; children, Terri (Orville) Fierce of Camanche, Iowa, Don Oehrlein, Jr. of Redding, California, Pam (Mark) Turner of San Antonio, Texas, Robert Oehrlein of Colona, Illinois, Debra (Mike) Bartholomew of Davenport, Deanna (Terri) Pinter of Portland, Oregon, Michael Olson of Donahue, Iowa, and Jim LaMar of Davenport; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Preceding Don in death were his parents.

A graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound, with the Reverend Ron Rafferty officiating. Interment will follow. A gathering of family and friends in celebration of Don's life will be held at Scott County Park in the Hickory Hills Shelter, rural Long Grove, Iowa, following the graveside service.
