Elsabea Kube Dierks, 82, of DeWitt, Iowa, formerly of Indiana, died Tuesday afternoon, June 12, 2012 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. A Service of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Church. Burial will follow at the Elvira Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brent Kube, Ryan Vogel, Paul Meyers, David Jost, Keith Kube and Jared Kube. Heath Meador and Brad Meador will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Elsabea Dierks was a high school graduate of Elvira Consolidated School. She began her teacher training at Iowa State Teacher's College, Cedar Falls, Iowa, and received a degree in elementary education from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa. Elsabea studied bible and music at Bob Jones University, Greenville, South Carolina.

She married The Reverend Roger Dierks, June 28, 1958 at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. The couple made their first home in Bellville, Illinois, where Elsabea taught in both christian and secular schools. The family then moved to Bloomington, Indiana, where she received a masters degree in education from Indiana University.

Elsabea became certified to serve as an associate pastor in the Lutheran Church and acted as coordinator of ministry at the First Lutheran Church of Indianapolis, Indiana. She was instrumental in the restoration of First Lutheran and its Historic Landmark status. Elsabea was host to many prominent visitors during the Indianapolis 500 parade. She was also employed as a juvenile probation officer, counseling first offenders. Elsabea served as director of curriculum from 1989 until 2006 at The Little Lamb Christian Day Care Center, Carmel Indiana.

As a dedicated servant of the Lord, Elsabea's sincerest desire was to share the gift of God's love and His promise of forgiveness through His son, Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her husband, The Reverend Roger Dierks; her parents, Frederick Ernest and Adele (Miller) Kube; a brother, Frederick A. Kube as well as cousins, aunts and uncles.

Survivors include sons, Stephen Dierks of DeWitt, and Jeffrey Dierks and his wife, Diane of Brazil, Indiana; brothers, Llewellyn Kube of Goose Lake, Iowa, and Kenneth Kube and his wife, Barbara of Bad Axe, Michigan; a sister, Adele Kroeger of Clinton, Iowa, and a sister-in-law, Doris Kube of LeClaire, Iowa. Nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to The Little Lamb Christian Day Care Center, 1609 Greyhound Pass, Carmel, Indiana 46032.
