CSM Greg Bradley Bunce

U.S. Veteran


Command Sergeant Major Greg Bradley Bunce, United States Army Retired, age 46, of Clayton, North Carolina, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away May 14, 2012.

He was born February 4, 1966 in DeWitt, to Daniel and Lucille (Jurgensen) Bunce. CSM Bunce proudly served in the United States Army for 27 years. His duty stations included: Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Fort Riley, Kansas; Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Hanau, Germany; Area I, South Korea; and Fort Bliss, Texas (Sergeant Major Academy Class #54). CSM Bunce deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was a recipient of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Award, the de Fleury Medal, and the Order of the Samuel Sharpe Award. CSM Greg Bunce was awarded the Bronze Star for his duties and support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Surviving are his daughter, Caroline “Doodlebug” Elizabeth Bunce of Fayetteville, North Carolina; a son, Aaron Taylor Jones of Waynesville, Missouri; siblings, Patricia, Mike, Debbie, Barbara, Steve and Michelle; numerous nieces and nephews.

A family graveside service will be held at Kvindherred Cemetery at rural Calamus, Iowa. Chaplain Major Scott Fluegel will officiate. Full military honors by the United States Army, Eugene McManus American Legion Post #238 of DeWitt and the Patriot Guard will follow.
